How do we condense hundreds of pages representing years of research and writing into clear, concise, and compelling pitches? This 90-minute workshop for academic and non-fiction authors covers the fundamental components of a book proposal. Key to making these components work is recognizing the proposal as a genre and then learning and mastering its conventions. You will leave a worksheet to  apply what we’ve learned and develop a coherent proposal that foregrounds your project's argument and contributions in specific and compelling ways.

We will also discuss the publishing process, when to submit, and how to use proposal development to clarify the stakes of your project: what makes this book unique, timely, and necessary?

The cost of this workshop can be applied toward a proposal development package booked within three months of the workshop date. Authors I have worked with have books out or forthcoming from University of Minnesota Press, University of Illinois Press, University of Pennsylvania Press, Duke University Press, University of North Carolina Press, University of California Press, Verso, and others.
